Dr. Mohit Bhandari is a globally recognized bariatric, metabolic, and endoscopic surgeon, known for his pioneering contributions to advanced weight-loss surgery and minimally invasive metabolic care.

He holds the rare distinction of having performed the highest number of bariatric and metabolic procedures in the Asia-Pacific region, and possibly worldwide, with over 30,000 procedures to date .

Clinical & Surgical Leadership

Dr. Bhandari is widely regarded as a pioneer of robotic bariatric surgery in India and was the first surgeon in the country to perform a robotic duodenal switch. His work has significantly advanced the adoption of robotics in complex metabolic procedures.

He is also a leading endoluminal weight-loss specialist, credited with performing one of the earliest and highest volumes of Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasties (ESG) in the Asian subcontinent. Additionally, he has pioneered single-incision bariatric procedures, having completed over 2,000 such cases.

Dr. Bhandari was the first surgeon in India to introduce the Allurion Swallowable Balloon Program, expanding non-surgical obesity treatment options in the country.

Academic & Professional Roles

He serves as the Director of IBC-ASIA and is a Committee Member of the IFSO Bariatric Endoscopy Board, contributing to global standards in bariatric endoscopy.

Dr. Bhandari has published extensively across the full spectrum of bariatric and metabolic interventions, including robotic surgery, endoscopic procedures, and single-incision techniques. His research appears in multiple high-impact international journals, and he serves as a reviewer for SOARD and Obesity Surgery.

Awards & Recognition

His center has been consistently ranked among the top weight-loss surgery centers in India by The Times of India and 3IC Research Consultants’ audit for five consecutive years. He has also been featured in both Limca Book of Records and the World Book of Records for performing the highest number of bariatric procedures at a single center.

Most recently, Dr. Bhandari achieved a historic milestone by performing the first-in-human magnetic anastomosis, for which he was honored with the International Surgeons Award at the 2025 ASMBS Annual Meeting.
