Dr. Anil Kumar Mishra is a nationally and internationally acclaimed authority in molecular imaging and radiopharmaceutical sciences, with over 37 years of distinguished experience in research, innovation, translational development, and institutional leadership. He obtained his Ph.D. in Chemistry from Banaras Hindu University and pursued advanced research at globally renowned institutions including INSERM (France), Max Planck Institute (Germany), and the University of California, Davis (USA).
As former Director, Institute of Nuclear Medicine and Allied Sciences (INMAS),DRDO, Delhi, Dr. Mishra led India’s strategic initiatives in cyclotron and radiopharmaceutical sciences, driving the indigenous development of PET and SPECT radiotracers and strengthening translational molecular imaging capabilities critical for healthcare and national programs.
A pioneer of structured academia-industry integration, Dr. Mishra was instrumental in establishing the first INMAS, DRDO–Industry collaboration with Dabur Research Foundation (1997–1998), creating a sustainable model for translational research and commercialization in defense and healthcare technologies, reflecting his futuristic and systems-driven approach.
Dr. Mishra is the recipient of numerous national and international scientific awards and honors, recognizing his exceptional contributions to radiopharmaceutical sciences and molecular imaging. Among the most prestigious and widely noted is the DRDO Young Scientist Award (1999) , conferred by the then Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji, underscoring the national significance and impact of his scientific work.
He has led multiple high-impact national and international projects supported by DRDO, DST, DBT, IAEA, and Indo-European collaborative programs. His academic output includes 295+ peer-reviewed publications, over 7,000 citations, and a strong global intellectual property portfolio comprising US, European, PCT, and Indian patents.
